Accounts Assistant

Our busy Finance Department is looking for an enthusiastic individual to join the team.

Under the supervision of the Finance Manager the successful candidate will be responsible for (amongst other things):

  • Registering cheques(incoming) and delivery of financial post to fee earners;
  • Cheque printing;
  • Banking and posting of receipts;
  • Bills, bill posting including monitoring bill numbers, and bill stamping;
  • General filing within the finance department.
  • Efficient and accurate input, reconciliation and retrieval of data

The role has a physical component as the successful candidate will also be responsible for

  • Archiving including the archiving of and retrieval of files (using sack trucks) and general information, and
  • Stationery ordering and unpacking.


Person Specification

All applicants must:

  • Be educated to GCSE level or equivalent (including Mathematics and English grades A-C).
  • Be computer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Have a proven ability to work under pressure, using your own initiative and in working as part of a team.

Specific accounts experience is not essential as training will be given but applicants must have an interest in working in accounts and an ability to learn quickly

We work a 7.25 hour day (36.25 hour week) Monday to Friday between the hours of 09:00 and 17:15

Salary: £11000 pa

Admin Assistant

As an administration assistant in a niche firm of solicitors the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the smooth running of one of our teams by (amongst other things):
  • Opening new files
  • Chasing unpaid bills
  • Preparing files for closure
  • Closing files before sending to archive
  • Researching and allocating unreferenced post
  • Circulating monthly cabinet check reminders

 
You will also need to be well-presented, confident and courteous as you will provide reception cover in conjunction with our existing receptionist. Duties include:

  • Covering switchboard, screening and transferring calls as appropriate
  • Allocation and general housekeeping of meeting rooms
  • Welcoming visitors to the firm

 
You will need

  • GCSE (or equivalent) Grade A to C in English and Maths
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Flexible attitude
  • Ability to work accurately
  • Willingness to work as part of a team

 
Previous experience in a similar role would be beneficial but not vital

We work a 7.25 hour day (36.25 hour week) Monday to Friday between the hours of 09:00 and 17:15

Holiday starts at 23 days per year plus Bank Holidays (our holiday year runs April-March)

Salary: £11,500
